South Korea -> SEOUL -> Changdeokgung Palace
Changdeokgung Palace
SEOUL, Seoul Municipality

The most well preserved of the five royal palaces in Seoul, Changdeokgung was also the main palace of many Joseon kings. The royal family moved into this palace in 1907, and part of it, Nakseongjae, served as the residence for some of the surviving members until 2005 when the last descendent in Korea passed away. The palace is well known for its Huwon (or Biwon, “ Secret Garden”) gardens. Huwon is exquisitely beautiful and contains ponds, pavilions, and ancient trees. Changdeokgung is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Due its historical significance individual touring is not allowed but there are various group guided tours throughout the day. English language tours are given at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Admission is W3,000 for adults. Tours last about 80 minutes. Participants just arrive in advance and purchase tickets. Reservations are not available. Closed Mondays.
