Suwon, Gyeonggi-Do Province
Hwaseong Fortress surrounds Suwon with its massive walls and gates. It was built during the reign of King Jeongjo during the late 1700’s to honor his deceased father, Sado Seja. The walls average about 30ft in height.
Near Janganmun, the North Gate, is a stunning reflecting pond called Yongyeon and an octagonal pavilion called Banghwasuryujeong. Hwaseong Fortress is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
