Changyeonggung Palace
SEOUL, Seoul Municipality
Built in the 15 th century by King Sejong for his father, King Taejong, Changyeongung was originally named Suganggung and frequently served as the residence of queens and concubines. Unlike other palaces in Korea, it faces East instead of South. During Japanese colonial rule the palace was used as a zoo and botanical garden but was restored to its previous grace and dignity in the 1980s.
