South Korea -> Jejudo (Chejudo) -> Folk Village
Folk Village
Jejudo (Chejudo), Jeju-Do Province

Being an island, Jejudo developed its culture in relative isolation until about 1000AD. During the Goryeo Dynasty, Korea was subjugated by Mongols and Jejudo remained in their possession or about 100 years. Kublai and Genghis Khan reported used Jejudo as a passage to invade and conquer Japan.

As a result of the Mongol invasion, Jejudo developed a slightly different dialect of Korean than the mainland. The folk village in Jejudo is a good mirror to its Mongol-influenced past. The Folk Village replicates the different aspects of village life. Many of the houses and huts are authentic and there is a performance of local traditional song and dance.
